It's been about 12 hours since my post. Fire no. 1 went past us (about 500 ft north!) but now we're waiting for fire no. 2; about 3 miles east and headed west (northwest). I hope we don't get evacuated either.
Not only is it incredibly dry and desert-like, but what water occurred naturally here has been diverted to housing. Another bad idea. (I heard one reporter say the fire was heading down the Santa Ana River - um - bed. "Bed" is a code for dusty ditch of kindling.)

I hope you guys don't get evacuated. :[
Most populous state in the union: in a desert. Turns out it wasn't a good idea.

Yikes, good luck. I hope the wind subsides.
